Analysis & Reporting, Australian Mental Health Outcomes and Classification Network (AMHOCN)

Analysis & Reporting, Australian Mental Health Outcomes and Classification Network (AMHOCN)

The main project undertaken by the Mental Health Outcomes and Case Complexity Stream is the Analysis and Reporting component of the Australian Mental Health Outcomes and Classification Network (AMHOCN).

AMHOCN was established by the Australian Government in December 2003 to provide leadership to the mental health sector to support the sustainable implementation of the National Outcomes and Casemix Collection (NOCC) as part of routine clinical practice. The NOCC is a suite of standardised measures that, when repeated at different times during a consumer’s engagement with mental health services, can indicate whether significant improvement, deterioration, or no change in clinical status and functioning has occurred.

The Mental Health Outcomes and Case Complexity Stream supports the public reporting of routinely collected data from the NOCC. Data from the NOCC is used to describe the clinical presentation and outcomes of care for different groups of consumers who receive care in public sector specialised mental health services.

For further information about AMHOCN, the NOCC measures and collection protocol, and tools to assist clinicians and others to create tailored reports from the NOCC data, go to the AMHOCN website.
