Epidemiology and Burden of Disease Research Stream
Overview
The Epidemiology and Burden of Disease Research Stream, led by Associate Professor Damian Santomauro, produces metrics that guide health systems in understanding the mental health challenges faced by their population, how these challenges change over time, and how they compare with those imposed by other diseases and injuries. This involves programs of work featuring the collection of new epidemiological data for mental disorders, analysis of existing epidemiological data to understand the distribution of mental disorders, quantification of the fatal and non-fatal consequences of mental disorders, and the development of methodological frameworks to improve the precision at which we collect and analyse epidemiological data.
