Support for the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System

Support for the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System

The Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System (Commission) was tasked with providing system-wide recommendations to shape Victoria’s mental health system now and into the future. The Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System delivered its final report on 3 February 2021 and it was tabled in Parliament by the Victorian Government on 2 March 2021. The work of the Commission has now concluded.

QCMHR provided ad-hoc expert advice and support on the use of the National Mental Health Service Planning Framework (NMHSPF) tool to:

  • inform the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System’s work,
  • peer review NMHSPF estimates derived by the Commission, and
  • provide feedback on interpretation or reporting issues arising.

The NMHSPF is a needs-based planning tool designed to help plan, coordinate and resource mental health services to meet population needs. Its development has been funded by the Australian Government Department of Health with contributions from all state and territory governments.
