John Cade – the founder of Lithium treatment

John Cade was an Australian psychiatrist who discovered the effectiveness of lithium as a treatment for bipolar disorder in 1949. This discovery was a major breakthrough in the treatment of mental illness.

Dr Cade is an inspiring example of a researcher who was tenacious and clinically astute.
